La Pouncho waits for you to celebrate the events of the season
A challenge, without big sports intererest except about sailor's honor, is launched between Pride, an american Swan 44 of Dick Jason, andt Ikra, the 12M JI skipped by Jean Laurain.
The
challenge is very simple : departure at feet of the village of Saint-Tropez
in the Tower of Portalet,
turn to the mark of the high bottom of Nioulargo (" nest of the wide
" in Provençal)
and to arrive in front of the restaurant, the Club 55, situated on the
beach of Pampelonne.
Ikra win.
This
challenge gave birth, thanks to the genius and
the enthusiasm of Patrice de Colmont, in the "Club 55 Cup ".
With this regatta is born a unique event, a meeting which
allows to make sail the common boats of running with most
prestigious maxi-yachts, prototypes extremely sophisticated
with
classics yachts which histories are as long as
days without wind ! is
this, the "Nioulargue" is born,
during fifteen years, mixing the biggest sailors to
owners of any size
After the nautical jousts, the sailors meet themselves to share an "anchoïade" and play "pétanque"...
Every year, we find the same state of mind and this simplicity good child.

marina sees blocking Eric Tabarly fighting against the maxi of Herbert
Von Karajan...
Fantastic duels take for scene " nostra mar "...
Magnificent three-masters come into the port of Saint-Tropez....
.But
after so many years of success , a desaster comes to sadden
the "Nioulargue" :
One of the team members of 6 M JI Taos Brett IV is killed
during a collision with Mariette.
The race is suspended.
In 1999, the" Voiles of Saint-Tropez " take the fire never put out.
More than 300 boats, 150 yachts of tradition and
150 modern boats are awaited in tropezian waters.
The sun going to bed in the masts of boats.
The wind making whistle for halyards..
